Breezes By The Reef
Barefoot beach club dining on Anguilla's dreamiest cove
Why Go
Set on the powdery arc of Merrywing Beach at Aurora Anguilla Resort, Breezes is where flip-flop-friendly beach club energy meets the polish of one of the island's top resorts ΓÇö pink accents, salt-air breeze, and a Caribbean-tinged menu that runs from wood-fired pizzas to just-caught seafood.
The Experience
Wander in from the sand and you'll find a breezy, palm-shaded pavilion opening straight onto turquoise water, with driftwood-hued tables, playful pink pops of color, and staff who greet regulars by name. Days here roll slowly: a lingering lunch of shared tapas and rosé, an afternoon float in Merrywing's glass-clear shallows, then back for sunset cocktails as a live band sets up on weekend nights. It's polished enough for a resort splurge, casual enough that a swimsuit and cover-up feel exactly right.
What to Try
Start with the conch fritters and a round of fish or shrimp tacos to share ΓÇö they're the reliable crowd-pleasers. Then pivot to a wood-fired pizza (the kitchen leans authentically Italian on the dough) or one of the whole-fish specials pulled from local waters. Order the frozen rum cocktail the bartender recommends; the tiki-leaning drinks are stronger than they look.
Insider Tip
Breezes is closed for a full renovation until November 1, 2026 — so plan visits for the reopening window when the menu, décor, and beach club layout will all be freshly refreshed. Once it's back, aim for a late lunch (around 2pm) to snag a beachfront table without the noon rush, and time your dinner reservation for a Friday or Saturday when live music turns the terrace into the liveliest scene on Rendezvous Bay.
The Practical Stuff
Located on Merrywing Beach inside Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club, Rendezvous Bay (west end of the island, ~15 min from Clayton J. Lloyd airport). Historically open daily for lunch 12ΓÇô4pm with the bar running 10amΓÇô6pm, plus dinner service; hours will be confirmed on reopening November 1, 2026. Reservations strongly recommended, especially for weekend evenings. Beachwear welcome at lunch; smart-casual after sunset. Mid-to-upper price range typical of resort dining.
Pair It With
- Sunshine Shack — Bankie Banx's technicolor beach shack a short stroll down Rendezvous Bay ΓÇö the perfect low-key rum-punch chaser after a polished Breezes lunch.
- Dune Preserve — Anguilla's most iconic driftwood beach bar, ideal for catching live reggae once you've had your fill of Breezes' weekend sets.
- Aurora Anguilla Golf Club — Same resort, wildly different mood ΓÇö book a tee time on the Greg Norman-designed course before heading back to Breezes for post-round tapas.
- Cove Bay — Walk the sandy spit from Merrywing to this quieter neighboring cove for a swim between courses.
