Why Go
Tucked into Anguilla's north shore beneath towering limestone cliffs, Crocus Bay is a calm, half-moon of powdered sand that doubles as the jumping-off point for one of the Caribbean's most beloved snorkel spots ΓÇö Little Bay, reachable only by kayak or a five-minute skiff ride.
The Experience
The vibe is unhurried island local. The bay's cliff walls block the trade winds, so the water is glassy enough to see your toes in chest-deep sea. Fishing skiffs bob near shore, kids paddle in the shallows, and a handful of beach restaurants send drifts of jerk smoke and reggae down the sand. Sunsets here are theatrical ΓÇö the cliffs go copper, the water turns rose gold, and the crowd (never large) toasts from bar stools at Roy's or da'Vida's without anyone reaching for a phone.
What to Try
Rent a sit-on-top kayak or a snorkel set from da'Vida's Boutique and paddle 10 minutes west to Little Bay, where turtles, stingrays, and squadrons of tarpon patrol a sheer coral wall. If you'd rather keep dry hair, flag down Calvin at the shoreline shack for his round-trip boat shuttle. Back on Crocus, order the salt-fish johnnycake at Roy's Bayside Grill, or book a sunset table at da'Vida for grilled snapper with the cliffs lit behind you. Strong swimmers can trace the shoreline right to a hidden cave scoop just past the cliff base.

Calvin's Little Bay Boat Service runs roughly US$15 round-trip per person from the Crocus Bay sand ΓÇö a fraction of what an organized excursion charges. Ask him to drop you at Little Bay around 10am and pick you up at 12:30; you'll get the reef nearly to yourself before the catamaran day-trippers arrive from St. Martin. Bring reef-safe sunscreen, water, and small US bills ΓÇö there's no shop on Little Bay.
The Practical Stuff
Free public access via Crocus Bay Road, about 10 minutes north of The Valley; there's a small unpaved lot at the beach end and no entry fee. Gear rentals, restrooms, and beach chairs are available through da'Vida (open daily) and Roy's (TueΓÇôSun, lunch and dinner). Calvin's boat runs 9amΓÇô5pm most days, closed during peak hurricane months (SepΓÇôOct). Water is calmest and clearest December through April; bring water shoes for the pebbly entry near the cliff base.
