Chef George honed his knife work over eight-plus years at CuisinArt and Tokyo Bay, and it shows: rolls arrive tight, glossy and layered with house-made sauces that punch above the mid-range price tag. The room is casual and unfussy ΓÇö locals, medical school students and clued-in visitors pull up for a fast dine-in lunch or grab takeout for a beach picnic. Expect friendly greetings, honest portions and the rare Caribbean menu that spans maki, curries, gyoza and Filipino sweets in the same breath.
What to Try
The Sushi Boat is the headline order ΓÇö six rolls including the Dragon (crispy shrimp tempura with cucumber, topped with avocado and fried noodles), the Kamikaze (shrimp tempura, avocado, spicy tuna, spicy aioli and eel sauce), plus California, Mango, Shrimp Tempura and Spicy Tuna, all for around $47. Don't skip the eggplant gyoza and spring rolls to start, or the daily bento specials if you want a taste of the Thai and Filipino side of the kitchen.
