Oceana Villa: A Cliffside Hideaway Above Crocus Bay
Two bedrooms, 5,000 square feet, and a horizon that keeps stealing the show.
Why Go
Perched on one of Anguilla's highest points, Oceana Villa turns the Caribbean into your living roomΓÇöan infinity-edge pool balanced against Sandy Island, Little Bay, and the misty hills of St. Martin beyond.
The Experience
Oceana feels less like a rental and more like a private estate you've somehow talked your way into. Spread across two levels and nearly an acre in the ridges above Crocus Bay, the villa gives two couples (or a small family) room to disappear from each other completely, then reunite on the covered terrace for a long, slow dinner. Almost every room opens to the sea, and the 12-by-30-foot curved infinity pool doubles as the property's centerpiece and its lookout tower. The most memorable moments, though, tend to happen in the open-air outdoor showersΓÇöwaves breaking below at sunrise, constellations overhead at midnight.
What to Try
Float in the infinity pool with your morning coffee and let the light work its way across the bay before you commit to a plan. Use the pre-provisioning service before you land so the fridge is already stocked with Anguillan rock lobster, cold sorrel, and a bottle of Pyrat rum. Wander down the hillside path to Crocus Bay for a barefoot beach lunch, then climb back up for an outdoor shower under the stars. On clear evenings, pour a drink on the terrace and watch the lights of Marigot flicker on across the channel in St. Martin.
Insider Tip
The villa sits almost exactly between the West End's fine-dining scene and Shoal Bay East, so you can build one day around a barefoot beach shack and the next around a jacket-optional dinner without ever feeling stranded. Ask the property manager to arrange a private boat from Sandy Ground to Sandy IslandΓÇöit's the fastest way to reach the sandbar you'll otherwise spend the whole week staring at from the pool, and the lobster lunch there is worth the crossing alone.
The Practical Stuff
Two bedrooms, roughly 5,000 sq ft, on almost an acre in the hills above Crocus Bay, a short drive from The Valley. Rates include ferry or airport meet-and-greet, welcome drinks, a pre-arrival grocery provisioning service, and an on-call property manager. Heated infinity pool, covered al fresco dining, open-air showers. High season runs roughly December through April and books out months in advanceΓÇöreserve directly through the owner site for the best availability. A rental car is strongly recommended given the ridge-top location.
